Kazan EK 004: 1/48 scale Su-11 conversion kit for the OEZ/Esci Su-7.

Su-11at the Monino Museum near Moscow, August
2001. Note the characteristic slight droop of the elongated nose.
****
The Su-11 was a development of the Su-9
interceptor, featuring the new larger Orel radar and corresponding extended nose
and intake, the upper fuselage cable duct fairings of the later Su-7s and a
strengthened undercarriage. Some Su-11s soldiered on into the early 1980s in PVO
service, performing air defense duties over some of the remoter areas of
Siberia.
As with the Su-9, a very simple conversion.
Simply remove the nose of the OEZ/Esci Su-7 at the the panel line indicated
(with a JLC saw, this takes less than 5 minutes) and sand
down the wing and horizontal tail roots on the fuselage. We'll be bringing you
some construction images soon.
The Kazan features exquisitely engraved panel
lines and a fully detailed cockpit (including a 3-piece KS-3 ejection seat). A
unique combination of photo-etched templates and plastic rod (not supplied but
you can easily fashion them yourself from the OEZ kit's sprues) enable you to
attach the new wings securely with the correct anhedral. The kit also captures
the slightly drooped nose of the Su-11 (see photo above).
Also featured in the kit are two R-8 missiles.
The kit's dimensions match those given by Josef
Martinek in the Czech Zlinek magazine (1992 issue) and the later Aviatsiya y
Vremya plans from 1998 (broadly based on the Zlinek drawings). Retail price of
the set will be no more than US$39.99.
