We're back from a great Mosquitocon Show last week. Many thanks as ever to Big Bill and all the IPMS Jersey Boys for their great hospitality!
We have lots of new stuff to announce. First of all, Anton Pavlov's excellent MiG-29 9-12 book is now on general sale:
The MiG-29 Fighter in Frontline Service - History, Markings and Color Scheme
(MIG291: $75)
This superb newly published 224-page Russian-language book charts the service history of the MiG-29 9-12 (Fulcrum A) in the USSR, Russia and other CIS countries. It is profusely illustrated with many hitherto unpublished photos of the 9-12 in VVS service, many coming from the archives of MiG-29 pilots themselves, and including many new details of special regimental markings in the 1980s and 90s. The book also contains no less than 51 pages of 4C profiles and top-views. It took MiG-29 guru Anton Pavlov and his co-author Sergey Voylokov two years to complete the book, and the TLC expended on the book really shows. The 1,000 print run is selling fast in Russia and we have been very lucky to obtain a shipment. This book will not be around forever...
Also now in stock from Aerolit:
(Aerolit 007: $28) 'Celestial Warriors - Air Accidents and Pilots' Graves
of the Soviet Forces in Germany'
Hardback, 108 pages, German text, 100 photos and illustrations. "The files related air accidents of the GSFG during the Cold War gather dust somewhere in Russian State archives, and regrettably no Russian historian has yet seen fit research this topic. 'Celestial Warriors' documents for the first time an oppressive legacy left behind by the Soviet Armed Forces on the former territory of the GDR. Eyewitnesses and Historians were interviewed, newspaper reports researched and Graves and memorials examined. "Celestial Warriors' presents the results of this extensive research in concise form. While many individual stories have yet to be uncovered, some facts have become clear. During the Cold War the Soviet Armed Forces suffered a considerable number of aerial catastrophes. Were theses accidents the result of poor training, human error or technological failings? Propaganda and obfuscation have made the truth even harder to find. This book's listing of catastrophes together with the names of those involved finally give the victims a human face. Don't forget them! 'Celestial Warriors' sheds light on a dark chapter of Soviet Russian history on German soil."
Finally back in stock:
(AEROLIT 005:
$65) .'Red
Fields - Russian Military Airfields in Germany 1945 -1994'

An-12 (product code 144RA08: $79)
Tu-154B (product code 144RA07: $79)
This exquisitely molded resin kit may be a lot more expensive than the injection-molded Zvezda model of the later M variant, but this is the only game in town for the Tu-154B-1 and B-2. The spectacular decal sheet covers four Tu-154B-2s: Aeroflot (USSR - Official Olympic Carrier Moscow 1980), Aeroflot (Russia), Dalavia (Khabarovsk, Russian Far East) and Malev Hungarian Airlines.
We also received our last Equipage shipment. As previously announced, the owners of Equipage have decided to move on and have ceased production for an indefinite period. We were able to secure their final stocks of three highly popular 1/72 scale sets; MiG-25, Tu-22 and Tu-22m3. The tires have been cast in silicon rather rubber, which adds much to the detail of the sets, but this has also forced a major price rise. If you really want some of these fine wheel sets, act now.
We received a restock shipment from NeOmega today, which included two new items:
New in from Hobby Boss is the new 1/48 scale MiG-17F kit:
HB 80334 MiG-17F Fresco C ($32.99)
Although the detail in this new-tool 1/48 scale kit very nice for the price, the cockpit could benefit from the addition of a NeOmega KK-2 ejection seat...
Also coming soon for the MiG-17 are 1/48 scale decals from Print Scale.
We have no less than eight new decal sheets in from Ukraine's Print Scale studio in both 1/72 and 1/48 scales.

We've finally caught up with the bulk of our heavy load of Amonster kit shipments. We are awaiting one more delivery of V-12 kits next week to complete all orders placed with us. There will now be no further Amodel deliveries of new releases until October as the Polish distributor has gone on vacation. New in stock from Amodel since the Nationals:
We are now turning our attention to updating the Web site with a number of new product releases. We launched a couple of new resin lines at the US Nationals, to wit:
New on the decal front is:
We have also listed a number of new releases from Ukrainian decal producer Print Scale.
We will also be selling two new kit lines:
AMG 48001 Polikarpov
I-153 'Chaika' (US$45)
Hobby Boss (select kits only)
HBO 87221 Mil 'Mi-8T' (US$24.99)
The kit is not actually a Mi-8T, it's a Mi-8MT late version. As we speak, our friends at Heliborne are working on a number of upgrade sets for this kit. The good news is that HB is the first manufacturer to get the cockpit glazing correct on a 1/72 scale Mi-8.
HBO
87220 Mil Mi-24V (US$24.99)
Another impressive job by Hobby Boss. Yet again, expect to see some upgrade parts for this kit from Heliborne. By the way the Linden Hill Resin Mi-24RKhR parts will fit the kits (as will the Italeri/Zvezda canopy).
We also have a number of new decal sheets in from Lift Here!.
In 1/48 scale, how about some interesting alternative marking options for your Trumpeter or Revell/Monogram C-47s:
