Superb new books now available from Harpia:

Silver Wings - Serving & Protecting Croatia (HPA  004: $74.99)

"This top quality hardback photo monograph features in six chapters the activities of the today's Croatian Air Force: Defenders, Firefighters, Transport Elements, Training Elements, Wings of Storm and Maintenance Elements. After a brief introduction on the history of Croatia Air Force from 1991 until 2009, the book features in large format and rich detail pictures of the life, work and action of the men and women serving and protecting Croatia. It covers not only the different aircraft in service, but also the men and women flying and maintaining it. The world-famous Japanese aviation photographer Katsuhiko Tokunaga covers the activities of today's Croatian Air Force in his well known and distinctive, nearly artistic style. Three appendices list the picture captions, the technical data of all aircraft in service with artworks by Ugo Crisponi and the current order of battle with all the unit's as well as cadet’s insignia."

Latin American Fighters - A History of Fighter Jets in Service with Latin American Air Arms (HPA 003: $54)

"This book for the first time describes the military fighter jet aviation in Latin America. It covers the eventful history of fighter jets in 17 countries ranging from Mexico in the north down to Argentina in the south. Each country is covered type by type in chronological order. Information on each type is being provided related to purchase, squadron service, losses, upgrades and service history. Each type ends with a table covering the number of delivered aircraft, different types and subtypes, delivery dates and known serial numbers. Each of the over 100 aircraft types mentioned could be covered with at least one picture. An appendix lists the existing plastic scale model kits in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 scale as wells as decal sheets in regards to the 17 Latin American air forces featured in the book."

Arab MiGs Vol. 1 - The MiG-15 and MiG-17 in Service with the Air Forces of Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Morocco and Syria (HPA 002: $54)

"Starting in 1955, and for the following 20 years, MiG-15 and MiG-17 formed the backbone of several Arab air forces. They played a prominent role in four major wars and dozens of minor incidents. Covering the first decade of this period, this study - Arab MiGs, Volume 1, the first in a series of publications - provides a unique and previously unavailable insight into the service history of both types with five Arab air forces. Even more so, it tells the story of people that flew MiG-15s and MiG-17s in Algeria, Egypt, Iraq and Syria. Several of whom became dominant political figures in most recent history of these countries. The reason why Arab countries began purchasing MiGs and thus became embroiled in the Cold War is approached and discussed from an entirely new and original - Arab - point of view. Details about combat operations during three major wars between Arabs and Israel, as well as the war in Yemen of the 1960s, are reconstructed on basis of primary evidence, foremost in form of original documents and participants' recollections. Aircraft colours, unit insignia, serial- and construction numbers are described in an unprecedented detail. Over 200 photos, colour artworks, maps and tables illustrate the story of aircraft and their crews, but also many air combats that became highly influential for the future of aerial warfare and fates of several nations."

April 11, 2009

We're back from a great Mosquitocon Show last week. Many thanks as ever to Big Bill and all the IPMS Jersey Boys for their great hospitality!

We have lots of new stuff to announce. First of all, Anton Pavlov's excellent MiG-29 9-12 book is now on general sale:

The MiG-29 Fighter in Frontline Service - History, Markings and Color Scheme (MIG291: $75)

This superb newly published 224-page Russian-language book charts the service history of the MiG-29 9-12 (Fulcrum A) in the USSR, Russia and other CIS countries. It is profusely illustrated with many hitherto unpublished photos of the 9-12 in VVS service, many coming from the archives of MiG-29 pilots themselves, and including many new details of special regimental markings in the 1980s and 90s. The book also contains no less than 51 pages of 4C profiles and top-views. It took MiG-29 guru Anton Pavlov and his co-author Sergey Voylokov two years to complete the book, and the TLC expended on the book really shows. The 1,000 print run is selling fast in Russia and we have been very lucky to obtain a shipment. This book will not be around forever...

Also now in stock from Aerolit:

(Aerolit 007: $28) 'Celestial Warriors - Air Accidents and Pilots' Graves of the Soviet Forces in Germany'

Hardback, 108 pages, German text, 100 photos and illustrations. "The files related air accidents of the GSFG during the Cold War gather dust somewhere in Russian State archives, and regrettably no Russian historian has yet seen fit research this topic. 'Celestial Warriors' documents for the first time an oppressive legacy left behind by the Soviet Armed Forces on the former territory of the GDR. Eyewitnesses and Historians were interviewed, newspaper reports researched and Graves and memorials examined. "Celestial Warriors' presents the results of this extensive research in concise form. While many individual stories have yet to be uncovered, some facts have become clear. During the Cold War the Soviet Armed Forces suffered a considerable number of aerial catastrophes. Were theses accidents the result of poor training, human error or technological failings? Propaganda and obfuscation have made the truth even harder to find. This book's listing of catastrophes together with the names of those involved finally give the victims a human face. Don't forget them! 'Celestial Warriors' sheds light on a dark chapter of Soviet Russian history on German soil."

Finally back in stock:

(AEROLIT 005: $65) .'Red Fields - Russian Military Airfields in Germany 1945 -1994'

Soft cover, 300 pages, 575 photos and illustrations. German text.

We have a similarly large restock, with a number of new releases from FAA Models, Alleycat and Alleycat Decals.

Particularly impressive are the 1/72 scale Airfix Nimrod enhancement sets and the full 1/48 scale Wellington IIC conversion kit, complete with a full Microscale-produced decal sheet.

November 18, 2008

We have two excellent new 1/144 scale kits in from RusAir. Click on the link to your left for more information about the kits.

 An-12 (product code 144RA08: $79)

Tu-154B (product code 144RA07: $79)

This exquisitely molded resin kit may be a lot more expensive than the injection-molded Zvezda model of the later M variant, but this  is the only game in town for the Tu-154B-1 and B-2. The spectacular decal sheet covers four Tu-154B-2s: Aeroflot (USSR - Official Olympic Carrier Moscow 1980), Aeroflot (Russia), Dalavia (Khabarovsk, Russian Far East) and Malev Hungarian Airlines.

We also received our last Equipage shipment. As previously announced, the owners of Equipage have decided to move on and have ceased production for an indefinite period. We were able to secure their final stocks of three highly popular 1/72 scale sets; MiG-25, Tu-22 and Tu-22m3. The tires have been cast in silicon rather rubber, which adds much to the detail of the sets, but this has also forced a major price rise. If you really want some of these fine wheel sets, act now.

October 14, 2008

We received a restock shipment from NeOmega today, which included two new items:

New in from Hobby Boss is the new 1/48 scale MiG-17F kit:

HB 80334 MiG-17F Fresco C ($32.99)

Although the detail in this new-tool 1/48 scale kit very nice for the price, the cockpit could benefit from the addition of a NeOmega KK-2 ejection seat...

Also coming soon for the MiG-17 are 1/48 scale decals from Print Scale.

October 4, 2008

We have no less than eight new decal sheets in from Ukraine's Print Scale studio in both 1/72 and 1/48 scales.

September 7, 2008

We've finally caught up with the bulk of our heavy load of Amonster kit shipments. We are awaiting one more delivery of V-12 kits next week to complete all orders placed with us. There will now be no further Amodel deliveries of new releases until October as the Polish distributor has gone on vacation. New in stock from Amodel since the Nationals:

We are now turning our attention to updating the Web site with a number of new product releases. We launched a couple of new resin lines at the US Nationals, to wit:

Alleycat

FAA Models

Rotorcraft

New on the decal front is:

Freightdog

Crankycrank

We have also listed a number of new releases from Ukrainian decal producer Print Scale.

We will also be selling two new kit lines:

Arsenal Model Group (AMG)

AMG 48001 Polikarpov I-153 'Chaika' (US$45)

Hobby Boss (select kits only)

 HBO 87221 Mil 'Mi-8T' (US$24.99)

The kit is not actually a Mi-8T, it's a Mi-8MT late version. As we speak, our friends at Heliborne are working on a number of upgrade sets for this kit. The good news is that HB is the first manufacturer to get the cockpit glazing correct on a 1/72 scale Mi-8.

HBO 87220 Mil Mi-24V (US$24.99)

Another impressive job by Hobby Boss. Yet again, expect to see some upgrade parts for this kit from Heliborne. By the way the Linden Hill Resin Mi-24RKhR parts will fit the kits (as will the Italeri/Zvezda canopy).

We also have a number of new decal sheets in from Lift Here!.

In 1/48 scale, how about some interesting alternative marking options for your Trumpeter or Revell/Monogram C-47s:

October 31, 2007

Two major dilemmas at Linden Hill Towers this evening. We're running low on Halloween 'treats' (we got wiped out by what looked like the miniature Munsters early on), and we have no time to post all the new product we have in one go. We have some great new Yak decals and books from Ukraine.

And a PVD restock. We'll catalog what we have (including any new releases) over the weekend.

Here's our first update. We welcome an excellent new Russian kit manufacturer, RusAir. Click on the link for more information.

A new line of periodicals for Linden Hill. Fliegerrevue Extra (FRX) is, to all extents and purposes, the German-language analog of International Air Power Review. As with IAPR, FRX is a quarterly journal, profusely illustrated with exclusive photographs and profiles, covering historical and modern aviation; both military and civil. What sets FRX apart is the preponderance of features on subjects close to the bailiwick of Linden Hill! Some of FRX's editorial team clearly have their roots in the old GDR and each issue contains a large proportion of articles related to the GDR, USSR, Russia and related Cold War subjects. All issues listed below are highly recommended.

EACH ISSUE OF FLIEGERREVUE IS PRICED AT US$18.50
